About Project
The project involved the remediation of 2.8 million cubic meters of effluent contaminated with petroleum oil and grease, with concentrations ranging between 400,000 and 800,000 parts per million (ppm). Additionally, 250,000 cubic meters of soil contaminated with oil and grease at concentrations between 40,000 and 160,000 ppm were treated at the Sherman Mines site in Temagami, Northern Ontario.
Objective
Reduce contaminants to meet Government of Ontario standards.
Result
The treated effluent successfully met the required discharge quality criteria.
The soil, exceeding 250,000 cubic meters and contaminated with oil and grease, was reduced to less than 400 ppm within a period of less than three months.
